1. Welcome and Introductions
W. Czajkowski opened the meeting at 0904 H.
2. Adoption of Agenda
W. Royall moved that the draft agenda be adopted; G. Boultbee seconded the motion. The motion carried.
3. Approval of Minutes of January 27, 2004 TAG Meeting
G. Boultbee moved that the corrected draft minutes of the previous Annual Meeting be approved; W. Royall
seconded the motion, which carried.
4. Report of OEOSC
OEOSC continued to manage the ANSI/OEOSC TAG to ISO/TC 172 and ASC OP during 2004. The following
table lists the TAG document activity in 2004.

5. Report on ANSI/OP Status, D. Aikens
G. Kohlenberg stated that the optical surface appearance imperfection standard was currently being balloted. It
is anticipated that the document will be ready for submission to ANSI during the first quarter of 2005.
6. Review of TC172 Work by Subcommittee
SC1 -- Fundamental Standards, G. Kohlenberg, OEOSC, Acting
W. Czajkowski shared highlights of the printed report that is attached.
SC3 -- Optical Materials and Components, G. Boultbee, JDS Uniphase Corporation
Report is attached.
SC4 -- Telescopic Systems, F. Kaufman, Leupold & Stevens, Inc
C. Cheng represented F. Kaufman. The written report is attached.
SC5 -- Microscopes and Endoscopes, G. Steares, Olympus America, Inc
Report not available.
SC6 -- Surveying Instruments, Charles Fronczek, NIST
Report is attached.
SC7 -- Ophthalmic Optics and Instruments, C. Campbell,
Report is attached.
SC9 -- Electro-Optical Systems (and Lasers), R. Faaland, FDA
Lincoln Endelman represented SC 9.R. The Faaland report is attached.
7. Old Business
L. Endelman reported that he will ask if SPIE can help fund cost of SC 1 meeting in Boulder, CO in 2006.W.
Czajkowski asked who in SPIE would be contacted. L. Endelman stated that he would be contacting June
Thompson.
8. New Business
Preparation for the ISO/TC 172/SC 1 Meetings in Weimar, Germany. G. Kohlenberg reported that he
needs the names of those who plan to attend this meeting so that he can prepare the list of accredited delegates to
submit to ANSI.
Appointment of SC 1 Leader. L. Endelman asked if J. Oberheuser would be a candidate. No action was
taken.
9. Objectives of TAG for 2005
The most pressing objective is to get more SC 1 participation including the appointment of the SC 1 leader.
W. Czajkowski will explore potentials in Edmund Optics.
OEOSC should determine if it can raise funds so that the US can host the 2006 SC 1 meeting so that an
invitation can be extended at the Weimar meeting.
10. Time and Place for Next TAG Meeting
Those attending this meeting agreed to meet again in San Jose in January 2006 on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.
11. Adjournment
Since no other business came before the committee, W. Royall moved that the meeting be adjourned; G.
Boultbee seconded; the motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 1017 H.
