OEOSC

Introduction

The OEOSC was created in 1996 as a non-profit corporation for the purpose of developing standards that are important to the Optics community in the USA. It maintains certification with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to manage the development of domestic American standards in the Accredited Standards Committee for Optics (ASC OP). It maintains another certification with ANSI to manage the American Technical Advisory Group to the Optics and Photonics Technical Committee of the International Standards Organization (ANSI/OEOSC TAG to ISO TC172).

Business Model

The OEOSC pays annual dues to ANSI, maintains two part-time staffers, and coordinates meetings and educational courses. Revenue is generated primarily with participation fees. Additional revenue is generated with sales of published standards and educational courses at conferences and upon special request.

OEOSC is incorporated in the State of Arizona with its office in Rochester, New York.

OEOSC is governed by a Board of Officers and Directors who are members of the optics community. The annual meeting is usually held in January during SPIE’s Photonics West in San Jose, California.
